Welcome Back!

Hello again folks, I hope you all had a nice holiday and that Santa was good to you.

This week we will be starting on assessable material as we only have 3 weeks left before the end of the block. Here is your task for today - it is quite a large exercise, and will probably take you some time.

F0H510 – Internet Safety – Outcome 4 (part)

You are required for this Outcome to make comparisons of the features offered by

: two different firewall packages

: two content-filtering packages

: two internet security suites

You need to state various features such as what it does, the different editions available, the price, what is included, ease of installation, ease of use, whether it is purchased from a store on online, and any other information you can find.

Some examples of programs are –

Zone Alarm (Firewall)

Black Ice Defender (Firewall)

SurfControl (Filtering)

Scrub IT (Filtering)

F-Secure Anti-Virus Total Suite (Security)

Antivirus – Panda (Security)

But you can use others if you wish. A good site is

http://www.computeractive.co.uk/products/

which also has articles showing you how to write a review.

You will then write a total of three reviews – one for each type of package. You may find it helpful to complete the following table as you go, but this is not essential –

Firewall 1

Firewall 2

Name and edition

Source

Price

What you get

How long it lasts

Ease of installation

Ease of Use

Appearance

How effective is it

Technical support offered

Screen shot

Other information

Recommendation, and why

You should then write a short report on how to choose a secure password, and give examples of what is a good password, and what is not.

Once you have finished, transfer all three reviews and the answer to the password question to your blog. This will be assessable material and form part of the Outcome for the Unit, so please ensure that this is completed correctly by the end of this week.
